The Pittsburgh Pirates announced that they have recalled left-handed pitcher Steven Brault from Indianapolis. To make room on the 25-man roster, lefty reliever Buddy Boshers has been optioned to Indianapolis.
Brault was sent down on August 3rd, so he didn’t use an option. When players are sent down during the season for 1-19 days, the team doesn’t use up an option year and the player is credited with MLB service time during their stay in the minors. Anything over 19 days uses an option and they don’t get credit for any MLB service time. Brault made five relief appearances for Indianapolis, allowing two runs on six hits and four walks, with seven strikeouts in 5.1 innings.
Boshers was called up on August 11th and did not make an appearance for the Pirates. His last appearance was on August 9th in Indianapolis, which was his lone outing since being picked up on waivers by the Pirates.
