Pirates Place Corey Dickerson on DL; Recall Austin Meadows

Published:

The Pittsburgh Pirates made their second transaction on Saturday night, placing Corey Dickerson on the 10-day disabled list. They recalled Austin Meadows from Indianapolis to take his place on the 25-man roster. Earlier in the day, Josh Bell was placed on the disabled list.

Dickerson has been out since leaving Tuesday’s game with a left hamstring strain. The Pirates were able to backdate the move to Wednesday, so he could be back in one week.

Meadows was sent down by the Pirates on July 15th and since that time, he hit .231/.262/.385 in ten games with Indianapolis. While with the Pirates earlier this season, he hit .298/.333/.477 in 48 games.

John was born in Kearny, NJ, two blocks from the house where Dots Miller grew up. From that hometown hero connection came a love of Pirates history, as well as the sport of baseball. When he didn't make it as a lefty pitcher with an 80+ MPH fastball and a slider that needed work, John turned to covering the game, eventually focusing in on the prospects side, where his interest was pushed by the big league team being below .500 for so long. John has covered the minors in some form since the 2002 season, and leads the draft and international coverage on Pirates Prospects. He writes daily on Pittsburgh Baseball History, when he's not covering the entire system daily throughout the entire year on Pirates Prospects.
