A look at how the current top 30 prospects did today. If a player is in the majors for an extended time or loses his prospect eligibility (Colin Moran, Edgar Santana, Kyle Crick, Max Moroff and Dovydas Neverauskas), he will be removed from this list. Everyone below him will be shifted up a spot, and a new player will be added to the bottom of the list. If a player is out for the season, he will be removed and everyone below him will move up a spot. Removing these guys doesn’t mean they have lost prospect status. It is just an attempt to get more active prospects on the list. Rankings are from our 2018 Prospect Guide, and links on each name go to their Pirates Prospects player pages.

Indianapolis won 5-3 over Louisville on Tuesday morning.
Clay Holmes tossed six shutout innings in his last start. His shutout was gone in the first inning on Tuesday morning and he was out of the game by the fourth inning. Holmes had major control issues, which have been worse than in the past and that led to five walks in just 3.2 innings. He only allowed two earned runs, but he was already up to 85 pitches at that point. Holmes struck out seven batters in his abbreviated outing and had a 3:1 GO/AO ratio, so he was hard to hit when he got it over the plate. He has 40 strikeouts in 35 innings this year.
Casey Sadler followed Holmes and not only did he throw 2.1 scoreless innings, he also added a two-run single that made it a 4-3 score. Dovydas Neverauskas had two shutout innings with five strikeouts. Johnny Hellweg got his ninth save.
Besides the big hit from Sadler, Jordan Luplow also had a big hit in the first inning, driving in two runs with his eighth double. Kevin Newman went 1-for-3 with a single and a walk, giving him a .413 average in 20 games this month. Ryan Lavarnway had two hits, a walk and two runs scored. Wyatt Mathisen is hitting .462 in limited time after a 1-for-3 day. Counting his time in Altoona, he has a .423 average in 21 games, with 14 walks.

Altoona had a 3-1 lead late in the game, until Bowie put up seven runs for an 8-5 Curve loss.
Starter Taylor Hearn allowed just one earned run over his last two starts combined. He looked like he was going to keep that streak alive until the sixth inning when Bowie scored twice. Hearn finished with two earned runs on three hits and two walks in 5.1 innings. Those two runs scored off of reliever Yeudy Garcia, who then gave up five runs of his own for the loss. Hearn now has a 4.32 ERA in 41.2 innings, with 43 strikeouts.
On offense, Logan Hill had the big hit with a three-run homer in the fourth inning, his seventh of the season. Will Craig hit his tenth double and Ke’Bryan Hayes picked up his ninth double. Jordan George reached base all four times he batted on three walks and a single. He scored two runs. Cole Tucker went 0-for-5, but he reached base once and picked up his third stolen base.

Bradenton lost 3-2 to Fort Myers on Tuesday morning.
Oddy Nunez allowed one earned run over six innings in his last start, which was also a morning start time. He put up similar results on Tuesday morning, allowing two runs on seven hits and a walk in seven innings. Nunez had three strikeouts, a 9:6 GO/AO ratio and he threw 66 of his 96 pitches for strikes. He now has a 3.52 ERA through 46 innings. Angel German pitched a scoreless eighth, before allowing the winning run in the ninth.
Albert Baur made it a 1-0 game in the second inning with his sixth home run of the season. The Marauders didn’t score again until the top of the ninth when Baur walked, then was pinch-run for by Alfredo Reyes. With two out, Bligh Madris hit a game-tying triple. Baur also singled to go along with his walk and homer. The rest of the lineup (besides Madris and Baur) put together three singles and no walks.

West Virginia lost an early 3-0 lead against Columbia, took the lead back in the top of the ninth, then lost 5-4 in the bottom of the ninth.
Starter Domingo Robles went seven shutout innings in his last start. He nearly matched that performance on Tuesday night, throwing six scoreless innings before Columbia scored twice with two outs in the seventh. Robles had just two strikeouts on this night, but he posted a 10:3 GO/AO ratio. Blake Cedelind gave up a run in his only inning and Ike Schlabach was unable to close the game out, taking the loss.
The Power had nine hits and three walks in the game. Calvin Mitchell had two hits to give him a .312 average, and he stole his third base of the season. Deon Stafford hit his second triple.
