Cory Giger from the Altoona Mirror is reporting that the hand injury to Bryan Reynolds turned out to be a broken hamate in his left hand. According to Giger, he will miss 4-6 weeks.
The 23-year-old outfielder, who was acquired in the Andrew McCutchen deal, was 3-for-13 through his first four games, with two doubles and a triple. The extra-base hits were a nice early sign from Reynolds, who hasn’t shown much power as a pro, though many scouts believed there was more in his bat. Unfortunately for him now, a broken hamate is an injury that saps power for up to a year, so it’s unlikely that we will see much power from him this season.
