The Altoona Curve will be sending five players to the Eastern League All-Star game this year. The five players that were selected are Jeremy Farrell, Brock Holt, Jeff Locke, Starling Marte, and Aaron Pribanic.
Farrell has a .285 average with five homers in 2011. He was named to the 2010 Florida State League All-Star team, and the 2008 New York-Penn League All-Star team.
Holt has a .289 average, along with a team leading six triples. The second baseman was also an All-Star in the FSL in 2010, and the NYPL in 2009.
Locke currently has a 4.29 ERA in 77.2 innings, with a 75:32 K/BB ratio this season. He’s had an up and down year, but has done well in June, with a 2.13 ERA in 25.1 innings, with a 25:10 K/BB ratio. The All-Star game is held in Locke’s home state of New Hampshire.
Marte has been arguably the best player on the team, with a .337 average, which ranks second in the Eastern League. He leads the league in hits with 97, is tied for third with 33 doubles, and tied for fourth in total bases with 139. He’s currently on an 11-game hitting streak.
Pribanic has a 3.52 ERA in 76.2 innings. He doesn’t strike out a lot, with 34 on the season, although his walk rate is ridiculously low, with just nine on the year. He’s had a rough June, with a 7.64 ERA, but had a strong start to his AA career in the first two months of the season.
