Pirates Re-Acquire Josh Rodriguez

Published:

Rodriguez has been re-acquired by the Pirates.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have re-acquired shortstop Josh Rodriguez from the Cleveland Indians, in exchange for cash considerations.  Rodriguez was drafted in the 2010 Rule 5 draft by the Pirates, and was designated for assignment back in April after going 1-for-12 at the plate.  Part of the reason he was designated for assignment was that the Pirates claimed Brandon Wood off of waivers.  Rodriguez went on to hit for a .193/.270/.316 line for Cleveland’s AAA affiliate.  He will be assigned to Indianapolis.
