Wilfredo Boscan Optioned to AAA

Published:

The Pittsburgh Pirates have sent pitcher Wilfredo Boscan back to Indianapolis, as they head to the All-Star break. No corresponding move has been announced and they won’t make one until play resumes on Friday.

This is the second time that Boscan has been called up without appearing in a game. He was recalled after they went 14 innings on Saturday, with both Deolis Guerra and Vance Worley unavailable for Sunday’s game. Boscan was scheduled to start Sunday for Indianapolis, so if the Pirates need a long man out of the bullpen, he could have thrown as many as 100 pitches.

When he didn't make it as a lefty pitcher with an 80+ MPH fastball and a slider that needed work, John turned to covering the game, eventually focusing in on the prospects side, where his interest was pushed by the big league team being below .500 for so long.
