According to Chris Cotillo, the Pittsburgh Pirates have reached an agreement to sign first round pick Kevin Newman and the deal will be close to the slot amount. The Pirates took the Arizona shortstop with the 19th overall pick on Monday. The slot amount for the 19th pick is $2,273,800. We heard a few days ago that the Pirates also agreed on a deal with third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes, who was taken 13 picks after Newman. He deal should be announced by the team on Monday.
