Andrew McCutchen and Ryan Braun Named NL Co-Players of the Week

Published:

Andrew McCutchen has been named the National League Co-Player of the Week along with Ryan Braun. McCutchen posted a .375/.464/.833 line in 28 plate appearances, hitting three home runs in the process. Braun had better numbers, with a .381/.481/1.095 line and four homers in 28 plate appearances.

A weekly award doesn’t mean much, but the significance here is that McCutchen is getting back on track. After a horrible start in April, which saw him post a .636 OPS, he now has a .306/.394/.553 line in the month of May. That’s in line with his career numbers, and the numbers he has been putting up the last few years while looking like an MVP. Having the real Andrew McCutchen back is going to be a big boost for the Pirates’ offense going forward.
