If a player is in the majors, he will be removed, everyone below him will be shifted up a spot, and a new player will be added to the bottom of the list. If a player is out for the season, he will be removed and everyone below him will move up a spot. Removing these guys doesn’t mean they have lost prospect status. Game Notes: Charlie Morton made what will most likely be his final rehab start, and had a strong outing. He was getting plenty of ground balls, with a 7:1 GO/AO ratio. He had some control problems, but didn’t give up many hits. One of the runs against him came off Deolis Guerra, with Morton walking the first batter of the seventh inning, then leaving after striking out the next hitter. The other run was a result of a triple, followed by a one out sacrifice fly. With Vance Worley already out of the rotation, Morton should join the Pirates shortly.
AA: ALTOONA CURVE

Game Notes: Altoona had a high scoring game, but unfortunately saw their pitching staff struggle. Angel Sanchez started the year strong, with one earned runs in 22.2 innings over his first four starts. Unfortunately, his last four starts, including tonight, have been horrible, with 14 earned runs in 20 innings. Max Moroff lost his 30 game on base streak over the weekend, but picked up a walk on Sunday, and got back on track tonight with two singles and a walk. Gift Ngoepe had a big night, hitting his second homer of the year, along with a triple and two walks. Keon Broxton also had a big night, picking up two triples to give him four on the season. Josh Bell hit his fourth double of the year, but also had his sixth error.

Game Notes: Last night I wrote about how a virus was going around the Marauders’ locker room, and that Jose Osuna was starting to get it. Apparently the virus agrees with him, since he hit his second homer in as many nights, giving him four on the year. Austin Meadows also homered, which was his second of the year, and picked up three hits on the night. JaCoby Jones, who missed time the last two games due to illness, returned strong with three hits and his seventh double of the year. The Marauders’ bullpen has been worked hard over the weekend, so they definitely needed a strong outing from Steven Brault tonight, who delivered. Brault now has a 3.93 ERA in 36.2 innings, with a 28:11 K/BB ratio.

Game Notes: Yeudy Garcia has been a pleasant surprise this year, and continued his impressive run tonight. He now has a 1.97 ERA in 32 innings, with a 30:7 K/BB ratio. Tonight was his second start since joining the rotation, although he put up some nice numbers before joining the rotation, which obviously got him this spot. I wouldn’t be surprised if Garcia gets a promotion to Bradenton by the end of the year. He’s already been aggressively promoted, making the jump from the DSL to West Virginia this year, although that was kind of necessary, since he’s 22 years old. Chase Simpson picked up three hits, and now has a .305/.424/.475 line in 118 at-bats.
