Pirates Prospect Watch: Kervin Pichardo Doubles in the AFL

Published:

Kervin Pichardo doubled in the Arizona Fall League on Thursday.

Pichardo hit his third double of the AFL season with two outs in the seventh inning, and Scottsdale down by one run at the time. He was left stranded as the tying run in scoring position.

In a small sample size, Pichardo has put up a .292/.393/.625 line in the AFL, with a triple and a homer to go with his three doubles. He’s played seven games, with 28 plate appearances. Pichardo had a .679 OPS this year in Double-A. His results toward the end of the year were better, but still inconsistent.

The Pirates acquired Pichardo at the start of the season from the San Diego Padres for left-handed pitcher Jackson Wolf. They had previously acquired Wolf from the Padres at the previous trade deadline, in a deal for Rich Hill and Ji Man Choi.
