Joshua Palacios had three hits, including a key home run, helping Indianapolis to a victory on Friday night.
The Pirates’ Triple-A squad was down 2-0 in the sixth inning, with two on and two outs. Palacios took the first pitch he saw, an 81.3 MPH slider over the heart of the plate, and launched it 379 feet at 107.4 MPH. That gave Indianapolis a 3-2 lead.
Palacios doubled in his first at-bat of the day. After doubling and homering, he reached base on a bunt single in the eighth inning, advancing Malcom Nunez to second with Indianapolis down 5-4. After a bases loaded walk and a wild pitch, Nunez scored the tying run.
Indianapolis would score three runs in the top of the ninth, allowing one in the bottom of the ninth, to close out the 8-2 win.
