The History

Rynders performed well at the Super 60 Pro Showcase in February, and participated in an MLB Draft league for three games. He added strength and athleticism as a senior. Rynders has a commitment to Kent State.

The Tools

Compiling the Baseball America and MLB Pipeline reports on Rynders.

Hit (45): The hitting is geared toward power, with some questions toward his bat speed and the length and uphill action. It’s an easy swing with the ability to hit to all fields.

Power (60): He has plus raw power from the left side, with a swing that is slightly uphill and consistently through the zone, tapping into his frame.

Run (50): He previously showed below-average speed, but improved to an average runner this spring. He could drop back down to below-average as he grows and fills out.

Field (50): Rynders profiles as a guy who could move to third base, due to a lack of quickness at shortstop, but good enough arm strength to stay on the left side of the infield.

Arm (55+): His arm grades above-average, with a chance to develop into a plus tool.

Overall (40+): Rynders was drafted as a shortstop, but profiles as a power hitting third baseman in the future. He excels with his power and arm strength, which both project as plus future tools. He’s more of a development project, but already made some good developments on his own during his senior season, and will hope to build upon that in pro ball.
