Pirates Draft Danny Carrion in the Ninth Round

The Pittsburgh Pirates have drafted UC Davis right-handed pitcher Danny Carrion in the ninth round of the 2023 MLB draft. Carrion was unranked and is a college senior.

Carrion posted a 2.45 ERA in 19 relief appearances across 29.1 innings. He struck out 34, walked ten, and had two saves. He also pitched in the Cape Cod League, making six appearances as a late inning reliever. He had a 3.72 ERA in 9.2 innings, with a 16:6 K/BB ratio.
