The Pittsburgh Pirates (9-6) take on the St Louis Cardinals (6-9) in the finale of a four-game series on Sunday afternoon at Busch Stadium.
The Pirates are sending out Mitch Keller (1-0, 3.57) for his fourth start. He has 22 strikeouts in 17.2 innings. He will be going up against right-handed pitcher Miles Mikolas (0-1, 10.05) in his fourth start.

**Another injury for the Pirates. Their bullpen has a slightly different look and one fewer lefty option.
**Our Pirates Prospects Daily article this morning looks at what makes Endy Rodriguez so good.
**If you missed it from yesterday, our weekly Saturday draft update looks at the possibility of any new names for the top spot. The start of the draft is just about three months away now.

John started working at Pirates Prospects in 2009, but his connection to the Pittsburgh Pirates started exactly 100 years earlier when Dots Miller debuted for the 1909 World Series champions. John was born in Kearny, NJ, two blocks from the house where Dots Miller grew up. From that hometown hero connection came a love of Pirates history, as well as the sport of baseball.
When he didn't make it as a lefty pitcher with an 80+ MPH fastball and a slider that needed work, John turned to covering the game, eventually focusing in on the prospects side, where his interest was pushed by the big league team being below .500 for so long. John has covered the minors in some form since the 2002 season, and leads the draft and international coverage on Pirates Prospects. He writes daily on Pittsburgh Baseball History, when he's not covering the entire system daily throughout the entire year on Pirates Prospects.
Hernandez on the shelf this whole series? Our pen is thing behind holdermann and bednar imo, wouldnt hurt to see if he can take off
Shelton lost the key to the Rule 5 locker again or Hernandez requires more than 4 days rest between relief appearances.
Honestly expected after Crowe came in but still disappointing. The Pirates had a lot of other scoring opportunities though, so can’t blame anyone
I’m still happy with the split.
I’m not happy about any loss, but I am pleased with how this team battles. Unfortunately our worst RP’s are a big problem. I wish they had brought in the Rule 5 guy to face Gorman.
Yes, games were competitive. We had our chances….
DUJ , then Crowe in save situation. Shelty trying to give it away…
Swing the bat, Rook!!!
One………
I think we may not see two.
He’s our worse pitcher, best we could’ve hope for was three hard hit outs!
You might be right……
I would have been tempted to let Bednar go another inning. You pretty much have to give him tomorrow off anyway.
No way. Long year. Be smart.
I’d walk Arrenado here.
Shows you what I know.
Time to find out if it’s a happy Crowe day.
🤞🤞🤞
I get in from the field, turn on the game and the first thing I see is Will Crowe warming up to close it out in the 10th. Ok. This should be interesting. I got here just in time.
Cardinals not looking like a typical Cards team.
Happy Crowe Day Y’all!!
Free baseball again. Let’s hope for same result.
Free baseball again… so this is why I like the ghost runners
Unfortunately, advantage Cards, they have their closer available and better hitters up……
They are not putting their closer in after throwing 30 or so pitches yesterday.
Right you are.
Tough play for Marcano
Cleaned it up well!
Castro with the perfect throw to just get the out.
That’s why he is the gold glove winner. Damn.
But he didn’t even use his glove.
Lmao. True story. Too good, not allowed to use a glove.
I’m not sold on Holderman yet, but that was a good showing.
I am, I love the movement with 98. Confident too he and Moreta have been strong additions to the pen.
Dancing through raindrops.
Phew!!!
Good move. Can’t let Nootbaar beat you. Let’s see if it pays off.
Quinn gets 9 k’s but 88 mph isn’t going to play in the show.
He needs to stay in aaa this ea. maybe next year his stuff will jump.
It’s pretty cool to have a good defensive 1st baseman. It’s been awhile.
Come on now, surely this is the time to hit Joe for Suwinski.
That was so close!! Damn
Cmon one sac fly!!
Horrible chase.
That was the moment I knew they wouldn’t score a run… and normally when things like this happens, the opposing team scores a run right after
Cutch=Professional Hitter
C’mon Cutch. Hero time.
He is so good
He’s out.
Nootbaared again. Hate it when that happens.
Sigh, Mitch.
Just when I was laughing at one pitch outs, they hit one pitch tying homerun. Smh
Well poop……
The Announcer jinx did in Mitch. Wasn’t that bad of a pitch to Lars.
This seems like a typical Pirates-Cardinals game except the Pirates look like the Cardinals and the Cards like the Pirates.
Nice to see the Cardinals making the mistakes today so far.
It’s really nice to see Castro and Suwinski heating up. Both are having good ABs and it really helps the team with Reynolds slightly slumping & Cruz being out
CSN having a tough day at the plate so far….
tough year so far . . . Swaggerty?
Why not? Swaggs is the better defender….
Cutch please don’t hit it to the birthday boy this time.
He didn’t but… 🙁
You mean other teams hit into 1-2-3 double plays besides the Pirates. I didn’t know that.
Keller’s secret: Pretend you’re facing the Pirates.
There’s the Keller of late 2022.
# PitchersBestFriend
Earlier the Cardinals’ broadcast said Keller had the 7th best ERA in the National League since last May. That’s getting close to a full year sample size.
Uh.. a double play would be nice now.
I don’t mind what Kevin Young talks about but his voice is really.. not enthusiastic at all. Very boring monotone voice.
Agree. Same with Capps. Can barely hear them.
I actually don’t really like Neil Walker either because content wise I think he doesn’t have anything super interesting or valuable. But at least he has some emotions
Soothing is the word I would use to describe his voice.
You say soothing I say sleep-inducing..
Watching baseball is such a joy this year. Kinda feels like the game of my youth. Well without the take out slides and retaliatory bean balls.
If Jack gets hot, this lineup becomes a whole lot better.
That’s gonna leave a mark on Burleson……
Angie! Of topic question: was Rake a popular TV series in Australia?
I have no idea! I’ve never been to Australia
🤣🤣🤣
Good job so far Mitch, but I’m ready to see better!
I know what you mean. Feels like he can be dominant.
Look at Ke, so smooooth.
Austin Hedges says “Endy who?”
Jack with a nice AB, laying off the breaking pitch….
Castro with a nice job moving the runner. Have I mentioned that I love him?
Commie lover!
🤣🤣🤣
Maybe once or twice.
