Pirates DVR: Tsung-Che Cheng And Chris Owings Home Run, More Draft Prospects

Published:

Welcome to the Pirates Prospects daily video rundown, where we pull some of the top videos of the Pittsburgh Pirates across the internet.

Tsung-Che Cheng

Playing shortstop for the Bradenton Marauders last year, Cheng emerged as one of the best leadoff hitters in the system in 2022. He’ll be one of a handful of prospects to play in the World Baseball Classic for the Pirates.

In a warmup game, he launches a home run, and judging by the tweet should be playing a big part in Taiwan’s lineup as the leadoff hitter.

Chris Owings

The Pirates brought the veteran infielder in as a non-roster invitee, giving him an opportunity to make the 26-man roster. He’s played well this spring, even going deep in Sunday’s game.

More Draft Prospects Highlights

The Pirates have the first overall pick in the upcoming 2023 draft, and there will be no shortage of names vying for the top spot. Dylan Crews, who many believe is the front runner, had another big weekend for LSU.

Here he drives in two on this double. He’s been every bit of the player most expected him to be so far this season.

Anthony began writing over 10 years ago, starting a personal blog to cover the 2011 MLB draft, where the Pirates selected first overall. After bouncing around many websites covering hockey, he refocused his attention to baseball, his first love when it comes to sports. He eventually found himself here at Pirates Prospects in late 2021, where he covers the team’s four full season minor league affiliates.
