Playing shortstop for the Bradenton Marauders last year, Cheng emerged as one of the best leadoff hitters in the system in 2022. He’ll be one of a handful of prospects to play in the World Baseball Classic for the Pirates.

In a warmup game, he launches a home run, and judging by the tweet should be playing a big part in Taiwan’s lineup as the leadoff hitter.
Chris Owings
The Pirates brought the veteran infielder in as a non-roster invitee, giving him an opportunity to make the 26-man roster. He’s played well this spring, even going deep in Sunday’s game.
