Pirates DVR: Esmerlyn Valdez’s Arm, Owen Kellington, Antwone Kelly Pitching

Published:

Welcome to the Pirates Prospects daily video rundown, where we pull some of the top videos of the Pittsburgh Pirates across the internet.

Pitching Prospects At Work

A lot of good videos of pitching prospects getting their work done prior to the start of the regular season.

One of them is right-handed pitcher Luigi Herndanez, who posted a sub-4.00 ERA while striking out 36 batters in 25 innings between the FCL and Bradenton as an 18-year-old.

The second set of videos (above) shows off a pair of pitchers, Owen Kellington and Derek Diamond. Kellington was part of the high upside prep players the Pirates took in 2021, but missed the majority of the season.

Diamond was one of the many college pitchers the Pirates took in 2022. He had a rough draft year, but put up some interesting numbers during the prior season.

Antwone Kelly made his lone appearance for the Netherlands count, pitching a scoreless inning, impressing with the run on his fastball. Here (above) he continues to work on his craft.

Esmerlyn Valdez

Esmerlyn Valdez is one of the prospects I highlighted that could make up a very crowded outfield picture in Bradenton. He was one of the better hitters on the FCL Pirates last year, but here he shows off his arm.
