Pirates DVR: Elijah Birdsong Strikeout, Aaron Shortridge Live BP, Nick Gonzales At Third

Published:

Welcome to the Pirates Prospects daily video rundown, where we pull some of the top videos of the Pittsburgh Pirates across the internet.

Elijah Birdsong

The Pirates went college heavy in the 2022 MLB Draft, especially on the pitching side. One of them was Elijah Birdsong, a 18th round pick as a college senior out of Pacific. He saw a little bit of action to close out the season in the FCL, and here he picks up a strikeout in a live BP.

Aaron Shortridge

After not pitching since 2019, Aaron Shortridge returned to the mound last year, pitching the majority of the time with the Altoona Curve. Here he faces Jacob Gonzalez and Sammy Siani, both of which have an opportunity to play for Altoona this year as well.

Nick Gonzales

The Pirates have made a point to move players all over the field to get experience at other positions. After getting some work in at shortstop during the season with Altoona, Nick Gonzales (Photoed above by WTM) got a taste of third base while in the Arizona Fall League.

It looks that work at the position will continue in 2023, as he keeps getting reps there in camp.
