Pirates Tender Contracts to All Arbitration Eligible Players

Published:

The Pittsburgh Pirates announced that they have tendered contracts to all six arbitration eligible players, while also confirming the earlier news that Miguel Andujar has avoided arbitration.

Pitchers Mitch Keller, JT Brubaker, Robert Stephenson and Duane Underwood Jr, infielder Kevin Newman and first baseman Ji-Man Choi will all go to arbitration if they can’t agree to a deal before their meeting. The Pirates have been a “file and trial” team, as are many teams now, where they go to trial if they can’t agree on deals before exchanging salary figures. The two sides have until January 13th to reach a deal before exchanging arbitration figures. We had more on these players and today’s deadline this morning in our P2Daily article.

The Pirates also announced that pitcher Manny Banuelos and catcher Tyler Heineman were not tendered contracts for the 2023 season. Both players were designated for assignment on Tuesday.
