Pirates Discussion: Day Three of the MLB Draft

Published:

Day two of the draft lacked the pizazz of Sunday, but there was a clear focus on college pitching depth.

If lack of left-handed pitching was on your personal list, then you’re probably at least a little happy at the Pittsburgh Pirates taking three left-handed pitchers in the first ten rounds.

Given the Pirates history since the bonus pool was instituted, it is likely that Ben Cherington and Co. will use their time wisely in order to negotiate with their presumed 11th round pick.

I think the best way to overall describe the Pirates draft at this point — Termarr Johnson aside — is this draft is one where faith must be put in the Pirates scouting and development departments.
