Starting Pitcher: Bladimir Dotel

Notable Performances:

  • Braylon Bishop 0-3, BB
  • Javier Rivas 1-3, BB

Game Recap:

The Pirates (8-6) scored two in the sixth and two more in the bottom of the seventh for a (seven-inning) walkoff over the Orioles, 4-3.  Pirate pitchers allowed only two hits, both singles, but walks produced the runs.  Bladimir Dotel worked three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and fanning four.  After a scoreless inning by Enmanuel De Los Santos, Owen Sharts took the mound.  He struck out the first batter he faced, then walked the next four.  Miguel Diaz came on to allow two more runs on a fielder’s choice and another bases-loaded walk.  Luigi Hernandez threw an inning and two-thirds, and Carlos Campos got the last out in the seventh.  Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the eighth, the Pirates got two runs on a single by Rafael Escalante and a ground ball.  In the ninth, the Pirates got two on with two out, and the Orioles went with a new pitcher.  He threw three wild pitches, allowing both runners to score.  (There’s a reason the Orioles are 2-12.)  For the day, Rafael Escalente had the only extra base hit, a double, along with a single.  Javier Rivas and Solomon Maguire each had a single, and Rivas made a spectacular diving catch of a liner with the bases loaded.  Jesus Castillo went 1-for-3 and left the game after hitting the first base bag awkwardly while trying to run out a swinging bunt.

Glad to see Tank got a couple hits. Maybe he’ll go on a hot streak!

Your lips to God’s ears!

agent00

it’s a shame not to see connor scott continue his year to year improvement. in fact he’s gotten worse this season.

agent00

actually this season is pretty in line with his previous years, excluding last season. maybe last year was the outlier year

AdministrativeSky236

Was hopeful his hot start to the season was a sign of things to come, but not looking like it rn

agent00

same here. he’s still young enough to improve of course. but it’s increasingly looking like last year was just an outlier year for him

Bucs'N'Pucks (Jeff Reed)

Come on. I need Sharts to be good. That last name needs to be on the back of a big league sweater

VTBucFan

At FCL game. Another tough outing for Sharts, four straight walks. He’s gone for the day.

gosteelers69

Send Mason Martin back to AA and promote Gorski to AAA. I know it won’t happen, I get it. Gorski still needs more time at AA, but Martin has been on a terrible decline for awhile now. And his strikeout rate is beyond alarming. I’m not sure about his upside anymore.

Mblee24

I say demote Mitchell have him play first and let him be the 1st baseman in August and September platooning with Chavis.

Bucs'N'Pucks (Jeff Reed)

Look at his game log, today would seemingly be a good day for Hung-Leng Chang to make another appearance.

agent00

where is angel rodriguez 😫

TNBucs

If things go as planned today, I’ll get to the Greensboro game tonight. Ironically, a few weeks ago after watching a mid-round college pick pitch well against us, I said I wanted to pay more attention to Sullivan 🙂

Bucs'N'Pucks (Jeff Reed)

I want him in Altoona, so I can ACTUALLY pay more attention to him lol
