There have been a lot of minor league moves for the Pittsburgh Pirates ahead of Tuesday’s games, most of them being pitchers. Here’s a quick rundown. If anymore come up today, we will update this post.
Quinn Priester was moved from Bradenton up to Greensboro, where he will make his second rehab start tonight. He threw three no-hit innings in his season debut last week.
Shortstop Tsung-Che Cheng has returned to Bradenton from a minor injury suffered two weeks back while running the bases. He was hitting .257/.327/.407 in 36 games at the time.
Bradenton received pitcher Mitchell Miller from the FCL Pirates after he threw shutout ball in two brief appearances last week. He was a minor league free agent signing over the winter, though this is his first experience in affiliated ball.
Denny Roman and Jeffrey Passantino each go from Bradenton to Greensboro. Roman has been promoted, while Passantino is on rehab just like Quinn Priester. Roman has a 1.30 ERA, 28 strikeouts and a 1.05 WHIP in 27.2 innings this year. Passantino allowed one run over three innings with Bradenton last week.
Adrian Florencio, who was the Pitcher of the Year last year for the system, has been placed on the Development List. He has an 8.84 ERA and a 1.99 WHIP in 37.2 innings with Greensboro this year.
Joe Jacques has been assigned to Indianapolis. The lefty was on rehab after a Spring Training injury kept him out for the first two months. He has pitched six scoreless innings between Bradenton and Altoona this year.
