Welcome to the Pirates Prospects daily video rundown, where we pull some of the top videos of the Pittsburgh Pirates across the internet.

Daily Video Rundown

Po-Yu Chen

The 20-year-old righty turned in his best performance of the season for the Bradenton Marauders, pitching five innings while allowing one hit, one walk, an unearned run and striking out seven batters.

Chen has been struggling with his control most of the season, but the single walk in this outing is encouraging. He now has 19 strikeouts in 16 2/3 innings in 2022.

Brendt Citta

The Indianapolis Indians came back in the ninth inning thanks to back-to-back home runs hit, the second of which by Brendt Cotta. The Former Kansas Jayhawk hit his first home of the season, giving the road team the lead.

Of the four his he has this season, three have gone for extra-bases, two of them being doubles.

Maikol Escotto

It’s clear that the Pirates have a lot of faith on Maikol Escotto, as they have given him aggressive assignments in back-to-back years. Starting Single-A at 18 years old, Escotto held his own enough in Bradenton to get sent to Greensboro this year.

Still just 19-years-old, Escotto has very much looked the part at times, but also has shown some power early in the season. This two-run triple he hit on Saturday is one of season that has gone for extra-bases, four of which are home runs.

Canaan Smith-Njigba

Acquired in the same trade as Escotto, Smith-Njigba tied the game in the ninth inning for Indianapolis before Citta put them ahead.

The home run was the first of the season for Smith-Njigba, who hasn’t gotten off to the best of starts at Triple-A.

Nick Gonzales

He hit a home run the other night, and continues to show signs of breaking out of his early season slump with an RBI single in Altoona’s loss on Saturday night.
