Minor League Season Preview: 2022 Greensboro Grasshoppers

  • Final Line: 3.1 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 7 K

Notable Performances:

Game Recap:

Greensboro (1-3) couldn’t hold an early 3-0 lead and lost to Winston-Salem, 4-3.  Jared Jones wasn’t overly efficient, but showed the level of stuff he has by fanning seven in three and a third innings.  He walked two and needed 69 pitches to get that far while allowing one run.  Wandi Montout gave up a run in two and two-thirds innings, and Jack Carey allowed two in the seventh to get hung with a blown save and a loss.  Two of the Hoppers’ runs came on longballs, Henry Davis’ first of the year and Maikol Escotto’s second.  Greensboro continued to rack up the whiffs, fanning 16 times to leave them with 56 through four games.  Davis was the only batter who didn’t strike out, with Abrahan Gutierrez, Sammy Siani and Escotto each fanning three times.
