Welcome to the Pirates Prospects daily video rundown, where we pull some of the top videos of the Pittsburgh Pirates across the internet.

Daily Video Rundown

Travis Swaggerty

It wasn’t the best of starts to the season for Travis Swaggerty. The former first round pick was 1-for-8 with four strikeouts in the first two games of the 2022 season.

He has shown off some of that speed, recording a stolen base as well as nearly beating out ground balls for infield singles on multiple occasions.

Friday night he made some better contact, including one where it mattered the most.

Swaggerty’s single in the ninth scored Hunter Owen, giving the Indianapolis Indians the walk-off victory. That was one of two hits on the game for Swaggerty, who nearly got a third on an infield hit on a bang-bang play at first.

Liover Peguero

The Altoona Curve fell behind quickly to the Harrisonburg Senators on their Opening Night, but nearly clawed their way back into the game. Liover Peguero opened up the scoring for the Curve, hitting a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Peguero, 21, went 1-for-3 on the night, with the home run, two RBIs, two runs scored and a walk in his Double-A debut.

Matt Fraizer

After Peguero put Altoona on the board, Matt Fraizer brought the score within two with a two-run home run of his own.

Fraizer hit .288/.356/.492 with three home runs, 18 extra-base hits overall, in 37 games with Altoona last year. He went 1-4 on Opening Night with the home run.

Bonus: Cal Mitchell

In a lineup that features Oneil Cruz, Mason Martin, and Rodolfo Castro, it is Cal Mitchell that has recorded Indianapolis’ lone two home runs of the season.

His solo shot was the lone run the team scored on Opening Night, and he recorded his second of the season Friday night.

Double Bonus: Chase De Jong

Getting the Opening Day start last year, Chase De Jong pitched six innings of shutout baseball while striking out 10 for the Indians.

This year, while not as impressive, De Jong put Indianapolis in another position to win, pitching four innings of one run baseball, this time striking out six. That included striking out the side in the first inning.
