Daily Video Rundown

Indianapolis Indian No-Hitter

It was a special night for the Indianapolis Indians, as three pitchers combined for a no-hitter against the Saint Paul Saints. Chase De Jong, Austin Brice, and Yerry De Los Santos teamed up to complete the magical night and totaled 12 strikeouts and two walks along the way.

Here’s a look at the final pitch by De Los Santos, a fastball on the corner for a called strike three. It almost didn’t get there though, as with most no-hitters, a big defensive stop was needed to keep it going.

Enter Cal Mitchell.

Mitchell makes an amazing diving catch to end the eighth inning and keep the no-hitter intact.

Rodolfo Castro

It had looked like the Indians pitching staff was going to have to be near perfect, as runs were tough to come by on both sides. The only run for a while was this home run by infielder Rodolfo Castro.

Hudson Head

Part of the trade that sent Joe Musgrove to San Diego, Hudson Head had an up and down first full season in the minors with the Bradenton Marauders in 2021. He drew a lot of walks, and was among the league leaders in home runs with 15.

He also struck out quite a bit (137 times), and only batted .214. Doing the math, the Pirates still decided to give him the push to Greensboro.

It had been a mostly quiet first half for the 21-year old Head, as he has shown some of that patience (four walks to three strikeouts, but had only registered two hits going into Wednesday’s game.

Head blasted his first home run of the season in Greensboro blowout win against rival Winston-Salem.

Ke’Bryan Hayes

Usually try to keep this prospect themed, but when your franchise player gets four-hits in a game and the big league club wins, this gets a shoutout.

Ke’Bryan Hayes recorded four hits in the game, so here’s a look back at his big day.

Anthony began writing over 10 years ago, starting a personal blog to cover the 2011 MLB draft, where the Pirates selected first overall. After bouncing around many websites covering hockey, he refocused his attention to baseball, his first love when it comes to sports. He eventually found himself here at Pirates Prospects in late 2021, where he covers the team’s four full season minor league affiliates.
