Video Rundown: Mike Burrows, Zach Thompson, Ke’Bryan Hayes vs Bryse Wilson

Welcome to the Pirates Prospects video rundown, where we pull some of the top videos of the Pittsburgh Pirates across the internet.

Player Rundown

Mike Burrows

One of the more intriguing prospects to keep an eye on this season will be Mike Burrows. The righty is coming off an impressive season that while it was shortened due to injury, was strong enough and eventually led to a stint in the Arizona Fall League.

Tim talked to Burrows going for one of this week’s features and he seems very confident heading into 2022.

Videos of The Day

Tucupita Marcano

Marcano came to the Pirates organization by way of the Adam Frazier. Ben Cherington tried to originally acquire Marcano in the Joe Musgrove trade before circling back later during the season.

Cleary the Pirates general manager was big on the young prospect, and the 22-year-old Marcano is looking to make an impact in 2022.

Marcano makes a slick grab in the video while playing second base. He is one of many options the Pirates have right now at the position, but he comes with an added benefit, versatility. Just last year alone, Marcano logged time at every position in the field except for catcher, first base and center field.

Zach Thompson

The righty is the furthest along among the three players the Pirates got in return for Jacob Stallings, with the now 28-year-old making his major league debut last year with the Miami Marlins. He is among several players fighting for a rotation spot this spring.

The first video shows him matching up against prospect Oneil Cruz. The shortstop hopeful is able to foul off a couple of pitches before finally going down swinging.

That’s followed up by another video of Thompson, this time against Yoshi Tsutsugo.

Ke’Bryan Hayes vs Bryse Wilson

The final video shows the matchup between Hayes and Wilson. On the mound, Wilson was yet another player brought in by the ways of a trade. Hayes of course is looking to rebound after a rough full season dealing with a left wrist injury.

Both figure to play a big part of the 2022 Pirates, with Hayes getting the better of Wilson in this video.
