The following is part of our simulation of the 2020 Pittsburgh Pirates season, using Out of the Park Baseball (OOTP). We simulate the season each day, as it was originally scheduled, and with no input from any of us, all to give you a Pirates team to follow this year. You can follow the simulation by inning and make it seem like a game, or you can skip to the end and find out what happens.

Puig led off with a single. Longoria singled, moving Puig to second. Crawford struck out. Posey singled to center, loading the bases. Wilmer Flores doubled down the third base line, scoring two runs. Triggs struck out. Hamilton singled to center, bringing in two more runs. Slater struck out.
Newman doubled on a line drive to left. Hayes took the first pitch he saw over the left field wall for a two-run homer. Maile struck out. Archer grounded out to first. Dyson walked. Frazier singled on a line drive to center. Dyson tried for third on the play, but was thrown out.

3rd Inning
Belt doubles down the first base line. Puig pops out to third. Longoria grounds out to first, moving Belt to third. Crawford singles to center, scoring Belt. Dovydas Neverauskas enters the game to replace Archer. Posey singles, moving Crawford to third. Flores flies out to right.
Bell singled to lead off the bottom of the third. Polanco struck out. Reynolds and Newman both flew out.

4th Inning
Neverauskas retired the side in order with two ground outs and a fly out.
Hayes struck out. Maile grounded out. Neverauskas singled. Dyson singled, moving Neverauskas to third. Frazier grounded out to third.

Belt struck out. Richard Rodriguez enters to pitch. Puig singled down the third base line. Longoria flew out to center. Crawford hit a two run homer to left. Posey flew out to center.
Bell flew out to left. Polanco and Reynolds both struck out.

Rodriguez retired the side in order, with a strikeout and two fly outs.
Newman led off with a single to center. Hayes struck out. Maile grounded out to third, moving Newman to second. Kevin Kramer entered as a pinch hitter and hit an infield single, moving Newman to third. Trevor Cahill enters for the Giants. Dyson singles to center, scoring Newman. Kramer is caught in a rundown between second and third, but escapes and is safe at third. Frazier grounds into a 5-4 fielder’s choice.

7th Inning
Edgar Santana enters for the Pirates and retires the side in order with one strikeout.
Bell flies out to center. Polanco singles. Reynolds grounds into a 4-6 fielder’s choice. Newman flies out to right.

Longoria strikes out. Kyle Crick enters the game. Crawford is hit by a pitch. Posey grounds into a 4-6-3 double play.
Hayes grounds out to third. Maile grounds out to third. Christian Walker enters as a pinch hitter and draws a walk. Dyson doubles down the third base line. Walker scores from first. Dyson is thrown out on the play at third after the run scores.

Keone Kela enters the game. Flores pops out to first. Pablo Sandoval enters as a pinch hitter and singles. A balk moves him to second. Hamilton grounds out to short. Slater pops out to second.
