The Pittsburgh Pirates are on the road today to take on the Toronto Blue Jays. The Pirates come into the game with a 2-11-1 record, the worst among all 30 MLB teams this spring. This will be the spring debut of Chris Archer. The game will be broadcast on MLB.com radio only.

Here’s the lineup for today:

  1. Adam Frazier, DH
  2. Bryan Reynolds, LF
  3. JT Riddle, 2B
  4. Colin Moran, 1B
  5. Ke’Bryan Hayes, 3B
  6. Jose Osuna, RF
  7. Cole Tucker, SS
  8. Jacob Stallings, C
  9. Guillermo Heredia, CF

Archer will be followed by Joe Musgrove, Edgar Santana, Geoff Hartlieb and Blake Cederlind. The Pirates also have Nick Mears, Williams Jerez and Blake Weiman, who could all possibly see action today.

The bench today includes a lot of catchers. Backstops Andrew Susac, Jason Delay, Arden Pabst and Christian Kelley are joined by Oneil Cruz, Kevin Kramer, Phillip Evans, Charlie Tilson, Jared Oliva and Will Craig. Also, Matt Gorski (2019, 2nd round pick) is with the Pirates for the first time this spring.

John was born in Kearny, NJ, two blocks from the house where Dots Miller grew up. From that hometown hero connection came a love of Pirates history, as well as the sport of baseball. When he didn't make it as a lefty pitcher with an 80+ MPH fastball and a slider that needed work, John turned to covering the game, eventually focusing in on the prospects side, where his interest was pushed by the big league team being below .500 for so long. John has covered the minors in some form since the 2002 season, and leads the draft and international coverage on Pirates Prospects. He writes daily on Pittsburgh Baseball History, when he's not covering the entire system daily throughout the entire year on Pirates Prospects.
