Winter Leagues: Chris Sharpe Drives in a Pair to Help Lead Team to Victory

In the Dominican on Wednesday night, Pedro Vasquez pitched two innings and got roughed up a little. He allowed two runs on five hits, with no walks and one strikeout. He has pitched seven times this winter, posting a 4.91 ERA in 11 innings, with a .304 BAA and a 7:2 SO/BB ratio.

In Puerto Rico, Chris Sharpe went 1-for-3 with a triple, run scored and two RBIs in his team’s 4-1 win. He picked up an RBI on the triple and another on a sacrifice fly. Sharpe is hitting .254/.378/.339 in 21 games.

Ike Schlabach picked up his fifth save in the same game. He allowed two hits, but threw a scoreless inning with no walks and one strikeout. Schlabach has a 1.59 ERA in 11.1 innings over 11 outings, with a 9:2 SO/BB ratio and a .222 BAA.

Yacksel Rios was on the opposing team and he matched Schlabach with a scoreless ninth inning. Rios retired the side in order on two ground outs and a fly out. In six appearances, he has allowed two earned runs over seven innings.

In Mexico, Randy Romero pinch-ran in the ninth inning of a 7-6 game, and then went to left field for the bottom of the inning. He has just one at-bat over his last nine games. Romero is hitting .179/.207/.214 through 27 games.
