The season in Australia opened up with Robbie Glendinning picking right up where he left off last year when he was one of the best hitters in the league. He went 2-for-4 in the season opener, with a double and a home run, driving in three runs, as his team picked up a 6-1 victory. Last year in Australia, he posted a 1.013 OPS in 28 games.
Jerrick Suiter is also playing in Australia this year and he went 0-for-4 in his team’s 8-4 win in their opener. He played in right field.
In the Dominican on Wednesday night, Oneil Cruz played his third game and went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. He’s 2-for-11 this winter. He had just two plays in the field, a ground out and a pop out. Cruz has handled all 12 chances at shortstop.
Jesus Liranzo allowed a run on three hits in his one inning of work. He left the game with runners on the corners, two outs and Oneil Cruz coming to the plate (he struck out to end the inning). Liranzo had a 4.40 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP in 14.1 innings over 15 appearances.
