The Pittsburgh Pirates announced that outfielder Jason Martin will not play again this season due to a dislocated left shoulder. The good news here is that he doesn’t need surgery and would have been ready in about four weeks if this happened earlier in the season, so there is no concern about it affecting his off-season. Martin was injured on a play at the plate last night. He was just recalled from Indianapolis yesterday and entered the game late as a pinch-hitter.
Jason Martin is done for the year due to a dislocated left shoulder, Todd Tomczyk said. Doctors did not recommend surgery and told the Pirates staff that Martin would have only missed a month if this happened earlier in the season, so he should be good to go next spring.
