Chisenhall fractured his right index finger when he was hit by a pitcher three days before Opening Day. The initial estimated time missed was 4-6 weeks, though the Pirates soon after clarified that it was too early to say he would miss that much time. He will likely need more than just a few days before he’s able to make his debut for the Pirates since he hasn’t seen game action in the last 25 days.
Update from Pirates:
#Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said Lonnie Chisenhall (broken finger), who is starting his rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis tonight, will work at LF, RF, 1B and maybe 3B during his rehab.
