Corey Dickerson Placed on Injured List; Jordan Lyles Activated from IL

Published:

The Pittsburgh Pirates announced on Thursday afternoon that they have placed outfielder Corey Dickerson in the 10-day injured list with a posterior right shoulder strain. Dickerson wasn’t in the starting lineup last night due to shoulder pain, though he did pinch-hit late in the game.

That opened up a roster spot for right-handed pitcher Jordan Lyles, who was activated from the injured list in time for today’s start against the Cincinnati Reds. Lyles wasn’t actually injured, but he needed to make his final start at Pirates City over the weekend before he was ready to make his season debut. He threw six innings and 100 pitches in his last outing.

It appears that the Pirates are going with a 13-man pitching staff tonight unless other moves are pending. Jason Martin was removed from the Indianapolis roster earlier today, so there is speculation that he could be joining the Pirates. The Pirates wouldn’t announce his addition until he was actually with the team, so there could be another move later, or tomorrow.
