Pirates Recall Adam Frazier; Casey Sadler Optioned to Indianapolis

Published:

The Pittsburgh Pirates recalled utility fielder Adam Frazier prior to Wednesday’s afternoon game against the Cleveland Indians. To make room on the 25-man roster, right-handed pitcher Casey Sadler has been optioned to Indianapolis.

Sadler was recalled two days ago for the first time since 2015, but he didn’t get a chance to get into a game. With Corey Dickerson unavailable today due to his left hamstring issue from last night, Frazier was needed for the bench, which was already a player short.

Frazier was sent down to Indianapolis on June 10th. Since being demoted, he has hit .223/.289/.298 in 32 games, with five doubles, two triples, no homers and one steal in four attempts. He has played 17 games at second base (15 starts), seven in right field, five in left field and one in center field. Before being sent down, he was hitting .239/.323/.355 in 58 games.
