Todd Tomczyk, the Director of Sports Medicine for the Pittsburgh Pirates, met with the media prior to Wednesday’s game in Los Angeles. Adam Berry provided details here about the updates on Francisco Cervelli, Jung Ho Kang, Chad Kuhl, Michael Feliz, AJ Schugel and Nik Turley.
Here’s a quick rundown of each player and their progress:
Cervelli has been going through workouts with the Altoona Curve this week and could join the Curve roster by this weekend for a rehab assignment….or maybe tonight (updated)
Pirates catcher Francisco Cervelli is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment at PNG Field tonight!
Kuhl has a right forearm muscle strain and he’s going to rest the arm until it’s completely pain-free, then slowly work his way back.
Kang has been shutdown for ten days before he does any baseball activities due to his left wrist sprain.
Feliz has thrown a bullpen and will throw a simulated game soon. He had right shoulder inflammation.
Schugel and Turley are both well off from the big leagues, with Schugel about to throw off the mound next week for the first time since early in the season.
Not mentioned in the article, but an injury update none the less. Dylan Busby is playing in the GCL today. Last year’s third round pick was hit in the face/head with a pitch back on May 19th and has been out since.
