The Pittsburgh Pirates made some roster moves ahead of Monday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers. Richard Rodriguez has been activated from the 10-day disabled list and Jose Osuna has been promoted from Indianapolis. To make room on the active roster, both Jacob Stallings and Dovydas Neverauskas were optioned to Indianapolis.
Rodriguez has been out since June 8th with right should discomfort, but he was able to throw 20 pitches in a bullpen over the weekend with no issues. Osuna has been hitting well at Indianapolis since being demoted last month. He has received playing time at third base, right field and first base during the past two weeks.
Stallings was called up on the 10th when Francisco Cervelli was unavailable for a few days. With two healthy catchers, Stallings can return to catching regularly in Indianapolis, as he remains their third string catcher. He did not get into a game this time in the majors.
Neverauskas pitched four times while Rodriguez was out, allowing five runs over four innings.
