Starling Marte Activated from DL; Jose Osuna Optioned to Indianapolis

Published:

The Pittsburgh Pirates activated center fielder Starling Marte from the 10-day disabled list on Saturday afternoon. To make room on the 25-man roster, Jose Osuna was optioned to Indianapolis.

The Pirates went 4-5 without Marte in the lineup. He’s hitting .308/.366/.508 through 41 games played this season. He was out with a right oblique strain, which was considered minor at the time and he ended up missing the minimum amount of time while on the disabled list. Austin Meadows remains with the team for now, but he will slide off of center field, where he has played all seven of his games so far.

Osuna was in his second tour this season with the Pirates, although the first one was just one game. This time around, he hit .200/.231/.360 in 13 games.
