Josh Harrison Activated from the Disabled List; Nick Kingham Optioned to Indianapolis

Published:

The Pittsburgh Pirates activated second baseman Josh Harrison for Sunday’s game against the San Diego Padres. To make room on the 25-man roster, right-handed pitcher Nick Kingham has been optioned to Indianapolis.

This move was expected, with Harrison wrapping up his rehab with Altoona on Friday night and joining the Pirates in the clubhouse yesterday. The Kingham move was also expected, as Joe Musgrove was also in the clubhouse yesterday and he’s slated to make his season debut sometime during this upcoming week (UPDATE: sounds like Friday now).

Harrison was hitting .263/.328/.351 in 14 games before fracturing a bone on his left hand back on April 15th.

Kingham has now made three starts for the Pirates and will remain as their top option if they should need a starter in the majors down the line.
