Injury Updates: Meadows Takes Swings, Waddell Throws Again, Altoona Updates

Published:

BRADENTON, Fla. – Earlier this week I provided an update on Austin Meadows and his recovery from his latest hamstring injury. Today at Pirate City, Meadows took swings in the batting cages. This was the third day that Meadows has been hitting, as he continues his rehab work.

I wasn’t sure when watching Meadows how much he would do. He started hitting off a tee, then took some underhanded flips. He finally progressed to normal swings in the cages. I got video of all three segments.

Waddell Throws a Bullpen

In that same update from earlier in the week, I wrote that Brandon Waddell had thrown his first bullpen session after going down with a flexor pronator muscle strain in his forearm. Waddell threw another bullpen today, and I got some video of him. Not much of an update here, but this is a good sign that he continues to throw, as the last time he started up, he had continued soreness and had to be shut down again.

Altoona Updates

By Sean McCool

** Connor Joe’s middle finger has healed well, and he has continued baseball activities. I would expect him to be back sooner rather than later, but they may wait until after the All-Star break since it is so close.

** I caught up with Kevin Kramer quickly, who said that everything has been healing well with his broken hand; however, my feeling is that his return is still a few weeks away.
