The Altoona Curve have placed left-handed pitcher Brandon Waddell on the 7-day disabled list with a left forearm strain. This is the second time he has been placed on the disabled list due his his forearm, with the first time due to forearm tightness. That was back in early April after his first start and he missed nearly a month of action.
Waddell threw six shutout innings in his start on May 30th. It was also the first time he didn’t walk any batters in a game this season. Then on June 4th, he couldn’t make it out of the first inning before reaching his single inning pitch limit. Waddell has a 4.55 ERA in eight starts this season, though that comes with 28 strikeouts, a 2.47 GO/AO ratio and a .208 BAA in 27.2 innings, so all of those numbers show he was having a better season than the ERA would indicate.
No move has been made to fill his roster spot as of yet. Bradenton is also one pitcher short at this time due to Casey Sadler moving up to Indianapolis. Their entire pitching staff is rested though, as they haven’t played since Saturday due to rain and an off-day. If any other moves are made today they will be posted here.
