Austin Meadows and Dovydas Neverauskas Named to Futures Game

The Pittsburgh Pirates will be represented by outfielder Austin Meadows and right-handed pitcher Dovydas Neverauskas at the MLB Futures Game during All-Star weekend. Meadows will be on the U.S. squad, while Neverauskas will be on the World team.

Meadows was recently called up to Indianapolis, where he is hitting .225/.262/.475 in ten games. Prior to that, he hit .311/.365/.611 for Altoona in 45 games. The 21-year-old has 19 doubles, ten triples and seven homers, as well as 11 stolen bases. Meadows had a 26-game hit streak snapped just over a week ago.

Neverauskas was also recently promoted to Indianapolis. He has allowed two runs on seven hits and one walk, with two strikeouts in 5.2 innings at Triple-A. Prior to his promotion, he had a 2.57 ERA in 28 innings with Altoona, holding batters to a .129 BAA. He had 32 strikeouts and a 1.63 GO/AO ratio. The 23-year-old from Lithuania has recently touched 99 MPH with his fastball, and he’s been sitting 95-96 MPH all season.

The 2016 MLB Futures Game will take place on Sunday, July 10th at Petco Park in San Diego at 7 PM.
