The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced that Jung-ho Kang and Jared Hughes will begin rehab assignments with Indianapolis this week. This is a good sign for the team, with both players obviously close to a return. Kang will begin his assignment on Monday, and Hughes will go on Tuesday.
Kang could make the Pirates’ lineup much better (and it’s already working well in the OBP front). Meanwhile, the middle relief in the bullpen has struggled in the last week, and Hughes could provide a nice boost, especially in situations where the Pirates need a double play ball.
Indianapolis is at home through Wednesday, and Ryan Palencer will have live coverage of the rehab outings.
