Andrew McCutchen was removed in the first inning of the Pirates game against the Atlanta Braves Saturday after he was by a pitch from right-hander Julio Teheran. A 91 mph fastball rode up and in to hit McCutchen on the back of his left elbow as McCutchen attempted to turn away from the pitch.
The Pirates announced X-rays were negative on his elbow. McCutchen will receive treatment today and be re-evaluated tomorrow.
McCutchen was hit for the eighth time this season, the fourth-most of any National League player. He also was hit by Williams Perez in the fifth inning Friday.
