Notes: Valle hasn’t played much, but he was effective last week when he was in the lineup, getting on base eight times, which included a homer. He’s got good defense behind the plate, and ultimately that’s his value to the Pirates this year. If they suffer a lot of injuries at the catcher position, he could have a shot at the majors as a backup.
