Rangers Could Decide on Manager Position Soon; Banister Impresses in Interview

Published:

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that the Texas Rangers could decide on their new manager either today or Friday. We learned earlier in the week that the Rangers were down to three finalists — interim manager Tim Bogar, Cleveland Indians bullpen coach Kevin Cash, and Pittsburgh Pirates bench coach Jeff Banister.

Heyman notes that Bogar “earned the respect of key Rangers players”, and has been considered the favorite in this process. However, he notes that Banister did “a terrific job in the interview”, and that his interview made the selection process more difficult.

At any rate, we should know by the weekend whether the Pirates will have to search for a new bench coach.
