Minor League Schedule: Felipe Gonzalez Replaces Luis Heredia on the Hill Tonight Against Hickory

All eight teams on the schedule today, with some early start times. Altoona and Indianapolis have early afternoon start times, while Bradenton gets going in the morning. Luis Heredia was originally scheduled to go tonight, but he has been scratched from the start. No word for why he was scratched or when he will start again. AAA: Indianapolis (56-49) vs Charlotte (45-59) 1:35pm
Probable starter: Adam Wilk (7-8, 4.26)
Yesterday’s Result: Charlotte 9, Indianapolis 3

Adam Wilk will get his 20th start of the season tonight. He has also pitched once in relief. Wilk has thrown a total of 118.1 innings, giving up 128 hits, 12 homers and 28 walks. He has 86 strikeouts, an 0.83 GO/AO ratio and a .279 BAA. In his last start, Wilk gave up three runs(two earned) on eight hits and no walks in six innings.

AA: Altoona (40-64) @ New Britain (50-51) 12:05pm
Probable starter: Adrian Sampson (8-5, 2.58)
Yesterday’s Result: Altoona 10, New Britain 9

Adrian Sampson will make his 21st start of the season today. He took a no-hitter into the ninth inning in his last outing, giving up a one out double before finishing off the one-hit shutout. You can read more about that start here, and/or check out video highlights from the ninth inning here. Sampson has thrown 122 innings this year, allowing 103 hits, five homers and 28 walks. He has 86 strikeouts, a 1.16 GO/AO ratio and a .230 BAA.

High-A: Bradenton (54-45, 19-11 2nd half) vs Dunedin (61-40) 10:30am
Probable starter: Jason Creasy (5-5, 3.78)
Yesterday’s Result: Bradenton 1, Dunedin 0

Jason Creasy will get his 21st start of the season this morning. He has thrown 102.1 innings, surrendering 110 hits, six homers and just 13 walks. He has 72 strikeouts, a 1.04 GO/AO ratio and a .276 BAA. In his last start, Creasy allowed seven runs on nine hits in four innings. He has gone six straight starts without allowing a walk, pitching a total of 36.2 innings over that span.

Low-A: West Virginia (35-65, 15-17 2nd half) @ Hickory (58-43) 7:05pm
Probable starter: Luis Heredia (1-3, 4.72) Felipe Gonzalez (1-3, 2.59)

Luis Heredia was originally scheduled to get his 12th start today. He has replaced by Felipe Gonzalez, who has made two starts and 25 relief appearances.

Short-Season A: Jamestown (15-22) vs Auburn (17-20) 7:05pm
Probable Starter: Tyler Eppler (0-1, 4.06)
Yesterday’s Result: Auburn 5, Jamestown 3

Tyler Eppler will make his eighth start of the season tonight. He has thrown 31 innings, allowing 28 hits, three homers and six walks. He has 19 strikeouts, a 1.06 GO/AO ratio and a .235 BAA. Eppler has a 2.25 ERA in four home starts and 6.00 on the road. He gave up six runs in his last start, twice as many as any previous start.

RK: Bristol (9-20) vs Pulaski (17-14) 7:00pm
Probable Starter: Mervin Del Rosario (1-1, 4.91)
Yesterday’s Result: Pulaski 7, Bristol 3 in 11 innings

Mervin Del Rosario will make his second start of the season today. He threw four innings in his only start, allowing three runs on five hits, one walk and he had four strikeouts. De Rosario has pitched six times in relief, including 2.2 innings without an earned run against Pulaski earlier this month. Check out the Bristol season preview.

John started working at Pirates Prospects in 2009, but his connection to the Pittsburgh Pirates started exactly 100 years earlier when Dots Miller debuted for the 1909 World Series champions. John was born in Kearny, NJ, two blocks from the house where Dots Miller grew up. From that hometown hero connection came a love of Pirates history, as well as the sport of baseball. When he didn't make it as a lefty pitcher with an 80+ MPH fastball and a slider that needed work, John turned to covering the game, eventually focusing in on the prospects side, where his interest was pushed by the big league team being below .500 for so long. John has covered the minors in some form since the 2002 season, and leads the draft and international coverage on Pirates Prospects. He writes daily on Pittsburgh Baseball History, when he's not covering the entire system daily throughout the entire year on Pirates Prospects.
