Minor League Schedule: Two Doubleheaders Slated For Saturday Night

All eight teams are on the schedule today, with both Indianapolis and Altoona playing doubleheaders. Check out the Prospect Watch from last night. All minor league transactions over the last month can be found at the bottom of the page. AAA: Indianapolis (53-43) vs Columbus (50-46) 6:05pm DH
Probable starter: Jhonathan Ramos (0-0, 3.52) and TBD
Yesterday’s Result: Columbus 5, Indianapolis 4

Jhonathan Ramos will make his first start of the season tonight. He has pitched six times in relief for Indianapolis and 23 times for Altoona. He has thrown a total of 35 innings, allowing 38 hits, six homers and 12 walks. Ramos has 24 strikeouts, an 0.93 GO/AO ratio and a .270 BAA. His longest outing this season was three innings on April 13th.

AA: Altoona (36-58) @ Harrisburg (36-56) 6:00pm DH
Probable starter: Adrian Sampson (6-5, 2.89) and Joely Rodriguez (4-7, 4.53)
Yesterday’s Result: Altoona 13, Harrisburg 12 in 11 innings

Adrian Sampson will make his 19th start of the season tonight. He has thrown 106 innings, giving up 98 hits, five homers and 24 walks. He has 78 strikeouts, a 1.12 GO/AO ratio and a .247 BAA. Sampson went seven innings in his last start, allowing three runs on six hits and four walks. On the road this year, he has a 2.94 ERA in nine starts. Sampson has held right-handed batters to a .224 average. Joely Rodriguez will make his 18th start of the season in game two. He has thrown 93.1 innings, allowing 98 hits, five homers and 31 walks. He has 48 strikeouts, a 1.63 GO/AO ratio and a .276 BAA. In each of his last two starts, Rodriguez has allowed four earned runs over five innings.

High-A: Bradenton (46-41, 11-7 2nd half) vs Tampa (44-46) 6:30pm
Probable starter: Shane Carle (NR)
Yesterday’s Result: Bradenton 2, Tampa 1

Shane Carle will make his first start for Bradenton tonight. With West Virginia, he threw 82.1 innings, allowing 96 hits, nine walks and nine homers. He has 47 strikeouts, a 1.81 GO/AO ratio and a .293 BAA. Carle pitched in relief in his last outing, allowing two runs over three innings.

Low-A: West Virginia (31-60, 10-12 2nd half) vs Greensboro (59-34) 7:05pm
Probable starter: Buddy Borden (4-6, 3.59)
Yesterday’s Result: West Virginia 8, Greensboro 3 (game one) Greensboro 6, West Virginia 3 (game two)

Buddy Borden will make his 18th start of the season tonight. He also pitched once in relief. Borden has thrown a total of 80.1 innings, surrendering 74 hits, ten homers and 34 walks. He has 69 strikeouts, an 0.99 GO/AO ratio and a .232 BAA. In his last start, he threw five shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk. He’s faced Greensboro twice, allowing four runs over five innings on 6/11 and three runs over five innings on 5/31.

Short-Season A: Jamestown (9-18) vs Vermont (11-17) 7:05pm
Probable Starter: Tyler Eppler (0-1, 3.86)
Yesterday’s Result: Jamestown 8, Tri-City 6

Tyler Eppler will make his sixth start. The sixth round pick from this year has thrown 21 innings, allowing 19 hits, three homers and three walks. He has 15 strikeouts, an 0.78 GO/AO ratio and a .238 BAA. In his last start, Eppler gave up three runs on six hits and a walk in five innings.

RK: Bristol (5-15) vs Kingsport (10-12) 7:05pm

John started working at Pirates Prospects in 2009, but his connection to the Pittsburgh Pirates started exactly 100 years earlier when Dots Miller debuted for the 1909 World Series champions. John was born in Kearny, NJ, two blocks from the house where Dots Miller grew up. From that hometown hero connection came a love of Pirates history, as well as the sport of baseball. When he didn't make it as a lefty pitcher with an 80+ MPH fastball and a slider that needed work, John turned to covering the game, eventually focusing in on the prospects side, where his interest was pushed by the big league team being below .500 for so long. John has covered the minors in some form since the 2002 season, and leads the draft and international coverage on Pirates Prospects. He writes daily on Pittsburgh Baseball History, when he's not covering the entire system daily throughout the entire year on Pirates Prospects.
