Francisco Liriano has been named the National League Player of the Week for the week of 7/29-8/4. The left-hander made two starts in that stretch, combining to give up one earned run on six hits in 14 innings, with a 14:7 K/BB ratio. Liriano picked up wins in both outings.

In the first start, Liriano gave up one run on four hits in seven innings against the St. Louis Cardinals, with two walks and eight strikeouts. The second start saw Liriano throw seven shutout innings against the Colorado Rockies, with two hits, five walks and six strikeouts.
