Alex Dickerson has been crushing the ball lately. He has a .298/.342/.522 line in 339 at-bats this year with Altoona. Most of that production has come since the start of June, where he has a .360/.398/.640 line in 186 at-bats, along with 11 home runs.
Dickerson was named the Eastern League Player of the Week two weeks ago. He didn’t stop there, having another huge week this past week to take the same award for the second time in a three week span. Last week Dickerson went 12-for-30 with four doubles and two homers to become the Eastern League’s top hitter. He finished the week strong with a three hit game, a four hit game, and a two hit game with two doubles over the weekend. He knocked in eight runs in Friday’s game, leading Altoona to victory.
If he keeps this up, it would be easy to see Dickerson making it up to Indianapolis in time for the International League playoffs. He’s probably the front runner for the Eastern League Player of the Month award, considering he’s been the Player of the Week in two of the four weeks this month, and hasn’t been bad in the other two weeks.
